Design Engineer, Soweto

Responsibilities

Design and engineer solar PV systems (rooftop and ground-mounted)

Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and energy yield analysis

Prepare technical drawings, layouts, and system specifications

Support project execution from concept through to commissioning

Oversee installation teams and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization

Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle

Ensure compliance with local regulations, grid codes, and industry standards

Assist with cost estimation, proposals, and tender documentation

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

3–7 years’ experience in solar PV or renewable energy projects

Strong knowledge of PV design software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD)

Experience with inverters, battery storage systems (BESS), and grid integration

Understanding of LV/MV systems and protection schemes

Willingness to travel to project sites within Zambia

Preferred Skills

Experience in C&I or utility-scale solar projects

Knowledge of hybrid systems (solar + diesel + battery)

Project management exposure

Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
