Title: Managing Editor (Full-time, Remote)
Location: Remote -Must be available to work on US central standard time.

We produce verified, useful reporting for our community with clear labeling of
facts vs allegations vs opinion , primary sourcing when possible, and fast, transparent corrections when we’re wrong.
We are not“a newsroom that posts.” We’re building a
distribution + trust + revenue machine
where every flagship story becomes a
Content Pack
shipped across WhatsApp and short-form video—then converted into
paid membership and sponsorship revenue .
We’re hiring a
Managing Editor who can run the editorial engine—fast, accurate, and built for distribution.
Responsibilities
Lead weekly editorial planning
Manage reporters/freelancers
Enforce verification + corrections discipline
Package every flagship into a Content Pack
Coordinate closely with Growth + Sales so journalism becomes a scalable business
Editorial leadership
Set the weekly editorial calendar and assign stories.
Edit and publish 5-7 flagship stories/week (video/article).
Maintain editorial standards: clearly label
facts vs allegations vs opinion ; verify claims; document sources.
Content Pack system (non-negotiable)
For every flagship, ensure we ship:
10–15 shorts (15–45s) with distinct hooks
1 newsletter‑style feature
3 quote cards/carousels
1 live outline OR Q&A format
1 sponsor‑safe version (community value angle)
Team management
Manage 2-4 independent reporters (and additional freelancers as needed).
Build repeatable workflows: briefs, deadlines, editing, fact‑checking, approvals.
Credibility + corrections
Implement a clear corrections protocol (fast, transparent).
Ensure right‑to‑respond practices where appropriate.
Prevent sloppy claims that create reputational risk.
Cross‑functional collaboration
Work with Growth to align hooks, formats, and distribution.
Provide sponsor‑safe story packaging and guardrails for Sales.
Success looks like (your scorecard) Within 60–90 days, you’re reliably delivering:
2 flagships/week
25–40 shorts/week
(from flagships + reporting + events)
1 live/month
(or equivalent community Q&A)
Clean, consistent editorial standards (no avoidable corrections)
Clear“audience value” formatting for WhatsApp distribution
An editorial pipeline that doesn’t depend on founders pushing every deadline
Who you are You’re a great fit if you:
Have strong editorial judgment and can edit fast without lowering standards.
Think in
systems
(templates, checklists, repeatable workflows).
Understand modern distribution (short‑form hooks, packaging, repurposing).
Can coach reporters to deliver clean drafts + receipts.
Care about community trust and can navigate sensitive topics responsibly.
Requirements
5+ years in editing/reporting (local news, investigative, community journalism, or high‑velocity digital news).
Demonstrated experience managing writers/reporters.
Strong fact‑checking instincts and source discipline.
Ability to ship under deadlines and maintain quality.
Comfort with a startup environment: ambiguity, speed, ownership.
Nice‑to‑haves
Experience with community‑based reporting (faith/immigrant/working‑class communities).
On‑camera or audio editing comfort (not required, but helpful).
Familiarity with Texas / DFW context.
Experience building membership‑driven media or creator‑led news.
