Business Unit Financial Manager, Soweto

Our client is a fast‑growing, infrastructure‑focused organisation operating across multiple high‑criticality sites in South Africa. They are seeking a commercially sharp Financial Manager to take full ownership of a key legal entity while also playing a central role in the organisation’s overall revenue oversight. This role sits at the intersection of operational finance, commercial decision‑making, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll act as a trusted financial partner to executive‑level stakeholders, manage a distributed finance team, and remain deeply involved in the detail.

Key Responsibilities

Full end‑to‑end financial management of a legal entity, operating as a mini‑CFO

Revenue management across a high‑volume billing environment

Oversight of debtors, collections, and client escalations

Hands‑on operational finance including journals, reconciliations, and analysis

Commercial involvement in contract reviews, pricing, and sales engagement

Management, coaching, and development of a geographically distributed finance team

Partnering with C‑suite stakeholders and senior management

Ensuring compliance with IFRS, internal controls, and financial policies

Job Experience and Skills Required

BCom / BAcc or equivalent 3‑year tertiary qualification in Finance

CA(SA) or CIMA

3 to 6+ years’ experience in a Financial Manager role

Strong technical accounting exposure

Proven IFRS knowledge, with IFRS 16 experience non‑negotiable

Demonstrated people and stakeholder management experience

Experience in high‑volume, deadline‑driven environments

Advanced Excel and strong analytical capability

Commercial acumen and problem‑solving skills

Confident communication with senior stakeholders

Fully onsite role

Hands‑on operating style with ownership mentality
