Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a talented and passionate pastry junior sous chef to join a prestigious private game reserve located in the heart of the Sabi Sands. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and skilled pastry professional who thrives in a luxury hospitality environment and is committed to delivering exceptional 5‑star standards.Key Responsibilities
Execute daily operations of the pastry kitchen in line with 5‑star luxury standards Maintain fridges, stores, and all pastry areas to the highest hygiene and stock rotation standards Communicate effectively with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams to ensure smooth daily operations Correctly use, maintain, and care for all pastry kitchen equipmentAccurately and timeously order ingredients required for the section Consistently produce pastry items according to established recipes and standards Contribute to training and development of junior kitchen team members Provide clear and effective shift handovers to ensure operational continuitySupport sustainability initiatives and eco‑friendly operational practices Assist across other kitchen areas when required as part of a multi‑skilled team approach Skills&Experience
Senior High School/Secondary School qualification Minimum 4 years’ experience in a medium‑sized pastry kitchen Formal 3‑year chef qualification essential Strong understanding of kitchen procedures, timing, and planning Creative flair with the ability to develop and implement new pastry concepts and menusAbility to train, guide, and support junior staff, with basic understanding of labour practices Knowledge of safety procedures and firefighting equipment First Aid training (advantageous; can be provided if required) Excellent communication skills High standards of personal hygiene and professional groomingPackage Includes
