Transport Manager, Stellenbosch

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a relevant tertiary qualification
• A minimum of 8 year 'working experience in a similar field is essential
• Operational Management background in the agricultural industry is beneficial
• Knowledge of grains and oilseeds would be beneficial
• Must have strong skills in process improvement and operations
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in Afrikaans and English is essential
• Must be computer literate
• Functional knowledge of handling and storage facilities is essential
• Must have good relationships with all freight handling companies

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Defining operating standards for the team and ensuring essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of the discipline
• Freight rate negotiations, including road, rail and sea freight
• Inventory planning to all destinations, including oil mills, farm loading and exports
• Owning relationships with all freight companies
• Developing and implementing systems and SOP's
• Managing relationship with key stakeholders
• Understanding and managing freight operations and invoicing
• Coordinating work activities with other teams
• Addressing issues with impact beyond own team-based knowledge of related disciplines
• Solving problems based on best practices
• Driving results and achieving targets within the team
• Preparing monthly progress reports on activities
