Saw Operator: Steel Warehouse - Port Elizabeth

We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator with experience in a steel or metal processing environment to join a high-performance production team.

Role Purpose

To accurately and safely cut steel materials to specified dimensions while minimising waste, ensuring traceability, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards within a fast-paced steel warehouse environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• 3+ years’ experience in medium to heavy industry (steel/metal fabrication preferred)
• Experience operating band saw or similar industrial cutting equipment
• Ability to read and interpret job cards and technical measurements
• Strong understanding of safety standards and PPE compliance
• Physically fit and detail-oriented
• English required (Afrikaans advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

• Operate band saw machines to cut steel accurately within tight tolerances
• Ensure proper marking, measuring, weighing, and recording of all cut materials
• Maintain safety compliance and clean working conditions at all times
• Perform basic machine checks, cleaning, and blade monitoring
• Complete job cards and maintain traceability records accurately
• Support workflow efficiency through teamwork and communication
