So, we heard a secret that we wanted to let you in on... One of the biggest IPPs in Sub-Saharan Africa is looking for a Project Developer to contribute their expertise to their growing portfolio of projects (pssst! Over 100MW worth). They are looking for a candidate that understands the South African energy market in all respects, covering everything from
administrative systems to environmental law . With support from a Senior Project Developer, your core purpose would be to secure all of the necessary
land rights, authorisations, permits, and licenses required to build and operate renewable energy projects.
Essentially, they need someone who can handle government-level red tape. If you consider your negotiation skills to rival that of Captain Phillips, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities
Your role entails a wide range of responsibilities aimed at identifying, originating, and managing renewable energy projects. You would be tasked with identifying potential project areas, conducting initial risk assessments, negotiating land lease agreements, and securing necessary permits and licenses from various government departments. Additionally, you would manage internal and external project costs, oversee stakeholder engagement during the development phase, and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure project success.Collaborating closely with senior project developers, you would contribute to due diligence processes, support the company's participation in renewable energy procurement programs, and assist in achieving financial close for projects. Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, monitoring market developments, and identifying opportunities and threats to the company's strategy are also key aspects of the role.Desired Skills
Project and contract management Strong interpersonal skills Confident presenter in all contexts (Boardrooms, local community meetings, press relations) Out of the box thinker Analytical mindset Proficient in MS Office Suite Driver’s license Desired Experience&Qualification
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in technology, science, engineering, or business field Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Project Developer in the renewable energy industry in South Africa Embedded knowledge of South African administrations, environmental law, and BBB-EE Code Project Development experience in rural South African regions Package&Remuneration
