Field Guide - Lodge Management Support and Maintenance, Swellendam

A luxury private game reserve in the Overberg region is seeking an experienced and guest-focused Field Guide to join their team in a hands-on, live-in role.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the rhythm of lodge life, takes pride in delivering a high standard of guest service, and can work together to support both the field guiding and front-of-house operations of a private reserve environment. 

Minimum Requirements:

• FGASA Level 1 qualification preferred

• Valid driver’s licence and PDP

• Previous lodge, reserve, or game farm experience essential

• Strong guest engagement and communication skills

• Practical maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general repairs

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct guided game drives and nature-based guest experiences

• Interpret wildlife, ecology, and conservation in an engaging and informative manner

• Ensure guest safety at all times

• Assist with reserve, vehicle, equipment, and lodge maintenance

• Support basic repairs and upkeep of lodge infrastructure

• Assist with roads, signage, surrounding areas, and reserve support tasks

• Help with guest and staff transfers when required

• Support the broader lodge team during busy operational periods
