Enterprise Architect – 12-Month Contract, Midrand

A leading Investments Institution is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support enterprise-wide transformation, technology modernisation, and strategic alignment initiatives within a complex corporate environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning business and technology strategy, defining enterprise architecture roadmaps, and ensuring the effective integration of business capabilities, applications, data, infrastructure, and security across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, standards, principles, and governance models.
• Translate business strategy into enterprise architecture roadmaps and technology enablement plans.
• Drive alignment between business objectives, operating models, and technology solutions.
• Define current-state and target-state architecture across:
  • Business Architecture
  • Application Architecture
  • Data Architecture
  • Technology Architecture
  • Integration Architecture
• Establish enterprise capability models and strategic transformation roadmaps.
• Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance on solution alignment, scalability, security, and sustainability.
• Collaborate with business leaders, solution architects, infrastructure teams, security teams, and delivery teams to support enterprise transformation initiatives.
• Facilitate cross-functional stakeholder engagement to drive strategic alignment and architecture adoption.
• Support digital transformation, cloud adoption, data modernisation, and process optimisation initiatives.
• Conduct impact assessments relating to business and technology changes.
• Ensure architecture compliance, governance, and alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide strategic recommendations to support innovation and operational efficiency.

Experience & Key Deliverables

Experience in delivering enterprise architecture initiatives such as:

• Enterprise transformation and modernisation programmes
• Operating model and capability alignment
• Application rationalisation and integration initiatives
• Cloud and infrastructure transformation
• Technology strategy and roadmap development
• Data and digital transformation initiatives
• Enterprise governance and architecture maturity improvements

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 8–10+ years' experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Technology Strategy, or related senior architecture roles.
• Proven experience within large enterprise or complex corporate environments.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Enterprise Architecture frameworks
  • Business capability modelling
  • Systems integration
  • Cloud architecture
  • Data and application architecture
  • Technology governance
• Experience aligning technology strategy with business objectives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with executives, business leadership, and technical teams.
• Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.

Advantageous

• Experience within financial services, development finance, or public sector environments.
• TOGAF certification strongly preferred.
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) advantageous.
• Experience with architecture and modelling tools such as:
  • LeanIX
  • ARIS
  • Bizzdesign
  • Sparx EA
  • Visio
• Knowledge of security, governance, and regulatory frameworks.
