As a Technical Manager in the automotive industry, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of product development, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance within the automotive sector. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that products meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations while driving innovation and efficiency in engineering processes.Duties&Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities: Product Development: Lead and manage the technical aspects of automotive product development from concept to production, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Engineering Management: Supervise a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to drive performance and achieve project objectives.Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949), regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Develop and execute quality control plans, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to address any deviations or issues.Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements in manufacturing processes, materials utilization, and supply chain management. Technology Integration: Stay abreast of advancements in automotive technology, materials, and manufacturing processes. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance product performance, reliability, and competitiveness.Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and sales to align technical requirements with business objectives, customer needs, and market trends. Risk Management: Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to project timelines, quality, and cost targets. Customer Relationship Management: Serve as a technical liaison with customers, addressing inquiries, resolving technical issues, and fostering long-term partnerships.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant automotive regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements (e.g., emissions regulations, safety standards such as ISO 26262). Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of technical specifications, project plans, test results, and performance metrics. Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for senior management.Qualifications
Matric Related higher education beneficial Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in technical roles within the automotive industry, with progressive responsibility and leadership experience. Strong understanding of automotive engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and quality management systems.
