Description
Our client is looking for a Project Manager to join their Technology and Digital Transformation team on a contract basis. This role is suited to a highly organised, delivery-focused, and technically astute project management professional with strong Agile/Scrum expertise and proven experience leading Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), OCR, and document automation programmes. The successful candidate will take full ownership of enterprise-scale IDP initiatives, ensuring successful delivery across scope, schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end delivery of Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) and document automation projects from initiation through to production.
Facilitate Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
Develop and maintain project plans, programme roadmaps, burn‑down charts, risk registers, and executive dashboards.
Coordinate cross‑functional teams including developers, architects, business analysts, QA engineers, and external vendors.
Manage dependencies across multiple workstreams and ensure effective scope, change, and risk management.
Oversee the full IDP lifecycle including document capture, classification, extraction, validation, and downstream integration.
Coordinate implementation across leading IDP platforms and cloud‑based Document AI services.
Manage model training cycles, accuracy benchmarking, and production‑readiness gates.
Ensure extraction‑accuracy SLAs are achieved prior to project sign‑off.
Build and maintain strong relationships with executive sponsors, business stakeholders, and vendor partners.
Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, solution demonstrations, and user acceptance testing.
Manage budgets, cloud consumption, platform licensing, and resource allocation across project teams.
Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations including POPIA, GDPR, and HIPAA.
Drive continuous improvement, Agile best practices, and lessons learned across the PMO and delivery teams.
Mentor junior project coordinators and contribute to organisational project management standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years’ project management experience in IT or technology delivery environments.
Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience managing IDP, OCR, or document automation projects.
Proven experience delivering multiple Agile/Scrum projects concurrently.
Experience leading cross‑functional teams of 4–15+ members.
Demonstrated success managing enterprise‑scale projects with budgets exceeding R2 million.
Strong experience engaging and reporting to C‑suite and senior executive stakeholders.
Certifications (Required)
PMP (PMI) or PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner
Certified Scrum Master (CSM/PSM) or SAFe Scrum Master
Preferred Certifications
Cloud architecture certifications (e.g., Azure or AWS)
Platform certifications in Intelligent Document Processing solutions
Technical&Professional Skills
Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and hybrid delivery methodologies
Project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, and Monday.com
Scope, budget, change, and risk management
Executive reporting and dashboard preparation
Earned value management and programme governance
Understanding of OCR, document capture, and extraction technologies
Experience with cloud‑based Document AI services
Knowledge of API integrations, RPA workflows, ERP, ECM, and CRM systems
Understanding of cloud architecture and enterprise system integrations
Strong leadership and ownership mindset
Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills
Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
High attention to detail and governance discipline
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
Ability to influence without direct authority
Resilient and adaptable in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments
Continuous improvement and process optimisation focus
Additional Requirements
Hybrid working model with on‑site attendance as required
Willingness to travel up to 20–30% for client and stakeholder engagements
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during critical delivery phases
Experience within regulated industries such as Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, Legal, or Government will be advantageous
