Back-End Developer (Senior) 1914, Midrand

A dynamic global IT environment is looking for an experienced Back-End Developer (Senior) to join a high-performing team focused on building scalable analytics platforms and cloud-based data solutions.

This opportunity is ideal for a passionate developer with strong Python, AWS, API development, and Data Engineering experience who enjoys working within Agile and DevOps environments.

Product Environment The Self Service Analytics Platform enables data-driven decisions and valuable insights through intuitive and powerful analytics tooling based on Cloud Data Hub assets. The platform supports low-code, no-code and hi-code analytics capabilities including dashboards, time-series analysis, ML workflows, and advanced analytics applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop APIs and Big Data pipelines using Python, ETL, SQL and Spark
• Develop scalable backend solutions within large enterprise environments
• Support development and operations of applications and features in collaboration with global teams
• Assist business with proof of concepts and business value calculations
• Perform system testing, implementation and quality assurance
• Review system designs and recommend improvements
• Prepare technical documentation aligned to ISO standards
• Create and execute automated test cases and processes
• Ensure test results are tracked and reported within Xray
• Support operational stability and continuous improvement initiatives

Key requirements:

• Expertise in API and ETL development
• Git development branching strategies and development approaches
• CI/CD pipeline development using Code Build and Github Actions
• Test driven development, Unit Testing, Functional Testing, Code Coverage
• Experience in Test Automation for example Playwright
• Terraform and IAC deployments; PySpark pipeline development
• Knowledge of structured and unstructured databases
• Experience using AWS S3 Storage with Iceberg Tables and AWS Data Pipelines
• Linux scripting and environment usage
• AWS Development Skills and proficiency in Python (preferred), Java or SQL
• Strong software engineering and DevOps mindset
