Role Purpose

The primary objective of the Technical Assistant is to provide support to the technician in their duties, while also performing manual labour tasks. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines, and assisting with various tasks as required.Key Responsibilities

Assist the technician in carrying out their duties effectively. Provide support to the technician, learn from their expertise, and gain valuable experience. Follow all reasonable instructions from the technician and maintain order in the vehicle. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, keeping all tools properly stored and in good condition.Maintain a safe working environment for the team by adhering to health and safety requirements. Demonstrate courtesy and respect towards customers. Adhere to all health and safety requirements and regulations. Perform any ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the manager, which may include reporting, administrative, or personal assistant duties.Handle and transport materials on the work site efficiently. Clean vehicles and equipment as needed. Prepare and dress poles appropriately. Dig holes for pole placement. String aerial cable accurately. Carry out trench digging as required. Assist in the installation of manholes and hand holes.Communicate and provide updates to the team leader regularly. Assist with stocktaking activities. Maintain overall cleanliness and housekeeping in the work area. Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

Proficiency in using hand tools. Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. Physical fitness to carry out various physical activities. Good understanding of health and safety requirements. Experience in cabling, particularly fibre optic cabling, is advantageous. Basic reading and writing skills.Technical inclination and aptitude. Experience working with underground utilities. Familiarity with fibre optic cabling. Good health and fitness. Ability to work with general hand tools and equipment.
