CNC Machinist
Location: Vereeniging
Job Overview The successful candidate will be responsible for CAD/CAM programming, CNC setup support, machining process optimization, and assisting with engineering-related costing and tooling functions.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical and analytical skills who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment
• Strong experience with:
  • FANUC controls
  • CAD/CAM software such as Fusion 360 or SolidCAM
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience with:
  • CNC turning
  • CNC milling
  • Tool selection and setup
  • Speeds and feeds optimization
• Good understanding of tolerances and quality requirements
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Own reliable transport preferred

 
Advantageous Experience
The following experience will be advantageous:

• Mechanical drafting experience
• 3D solid modelling experience
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings
• Knowledge of tooling and fixture design
• Experience in precision engineering or heavy engineering manufacturing
• Experience with forged components or special fasteners

 
Key Responsibilities

• Create and optimize CNC programs for production
• Generate CAD/CAM toolpaths and setup documentation
• Assist with machine setup and first-offs
• Improve cycle times and machining efficiency
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues
• Ensure components meet drawing and quality specifications
• Work closely with production and quality departments
• Maintain clean and organized programming records
• Assist the engineering department with machining estimates and job costing
• Research, source, and evaluate cutting tools and tooling costs
• Monitor actual machining times and costs against estimated costs
• Report on machining cost variances and identify improvement opportunities
• Assist in improving manufacturing efficiency and cost control

 
Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to work shifts
• Overtime may be required depending on production demands
