JOB PURPOSE

The Jnr Instrumentation Technician will report to the Snr Instrumentation Technician and will be responsible for the sites control systems, calibrations, electrical, instrumentation and programming support. The role will participate in the execution of new capital and continuous improvement projects when required.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job related activities include, but are not limited to:

Maintenance and repairs to all equipment

• Electrical, Instrumentation and electronic repair and maintenance of all machinery within the factory, and all associated electrical supply and control panels.
• Fault finding knowledge of DELTA/OMRON PLCs, Variable Speed Drives will be advantageous.
• Load cell fault finding, diagnostics and calibration.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration on weighing systems, level control systems, level transmitters, and control system as per procedures and schedules.

Industrial Safety

• Keeping abreast of technical developments in all fields.
• Abide by all safety regulations.
• Being available for Call Outs and overtime work
• Being available to work weekends and public holidays when required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

• This position is based in an industrial cement/tile adhesive factory with automated machinery.
• Dust, noise, and water based paint raw material will be present.
• For this position, must be medically fit and mobile.

REQUIREMENTS

The requirements and qualifications for this position include:

Qualification:

• Trade Certified in the relevant Electrical/Instrumentation fields.
• N6 or T4 Qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• Delta, Omron, and Siemens PLC courses will be an advantage.

Skills:

• The successful candidate should have knowledge of using PLC's and loadcell systems in an FMCG type environment. Delta and Omron PLC knowledge would be advantageous.
• 2-3 years’ experience gained in PLC troubleshooting, maintenance, programming, and support, ideally in a cement or dry bulk powder blending and packing automated environment.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, variable speed drives and automation systems.
• Knowledge on occupational safety
• Good knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
• This position will require standby duty and overtime when required.
• The successful candidate will be expected to be systems driven and have a flair for innovation to drive continuous improvement
