ESTATES AND INFRASTRUCTURE | Facility Operations
Bloemfontein Campus
Main purpose of the job
To manage the overall maintenance and logistics of CUT Infrastructure, facilities and assets at Bloemfontein and Welkom Campuses.
Responsibilities
Develop appropriate policies and procedures for the facility management unit
Manage and monitor buildings and facilities management
Manage and monitor health and safety compliance for the unit
Manage and monitor projects
Manage and monitor suppliers and sub-contractors
Manage the performance and development of staff
Provide input into the development of a budget for the section
Provide reports
Represent the unit internally at different forums
Nature of appointment:
Permanent Support Services
Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company):
R1 235 235 per annum (2026 Salary scales to be confirmed)
Minimum Qualification / Knowledge and/or Experience
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the built environment (NQF 7).
Five (5) years’ experience in managing infrastructure maintenance, facilities and asset management, operations logistics–preferably university–related, including vehicle fleet, gardening, cleaning and sport field management.
Three (3) years' people management experience in a complex work environment such as a university.
Professional registration such as ECSA, SACPCMP, SACQSP, or equivalent.
Sound knowledge in areas of maintenance, facilities and operations, logistics management as well as all operations‑related support services.
Valid Driver’s licence.
Comprehensive working knowledge of infrastructure and estates policies and procedures in a university environment.
Comprehensive working knowledge of a range of legislation impacting the University e.g. LRA, BBBEE, BCE, OHS Act.
Comprehensive working knowledge of building and construction codes and regulations.
Desired Qualification, Knowledge, and/Or Experience
An honour’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the built environment (NQF 8)
Eight (8) years’ experience in managing infrastructure maintenance, facilities and asset management, operations logistics–preferably university–related, including vehicle fleet, gardening, cleaning and sport field management
Five (5) years’ people management experience.
