Job Purpose Manage all orders and efficiently plan all customers’ local deliveries (DC collections, DC deliveries, customer deliveries, export deliveries), to ensure full compliance to all Customer Standard Operating Procedures and statutory OSH Act requirements and within the agreed budget.
Strategic imperatives that inform the role
To provide a stretching, achievable daily plan that allows the business to deliver on its contracted 4PL objectives (operational delivery and cost optimisation) for the Client.
To hold any parties accountable for non-delivery against the plan, and to be perceived as an impartial 3rd party between the site and transporters on operational matters.
To ensure an efficient systematic approach to ensure that the process encompassing the delivery of goods to Customers is done properly keeping in mind which goods are to be supplied in what quantity at what location in the desired time.

External Customers External clients and Transhipment Centres
Job Performance Criteria
Cost Management
Efficient planning to maximize utilisation on core contract fleet.
Efficient planning on Transhipment Centres to minimize cost.
Record keeping of fleet availability.
Operational
Ensure that all loads have been published to the Logistics Portal correctly.
Check Transporter load acceptance in the Logistics Portal.
Ensure all orders are managed and internal customers are notified of any exceptions.
Manage past‑due orders in the system.
Stock allocation in line with business objectives.
Manage non‑deliveries and claims.
Haulier Relationship
Contact Transporters to confirm available fleet and that there are no other challenges that may impact routing or opportunities that may go unrealised.
Manage overtime and additional costs.
Assist finance with recon on queries.
Weekly Cost Recon
Assist Finance with weekly remittances.
Service Delivery
Ensure orders are planned and executed timeously.
Work with the Client’s Sales team to ensure appropriate service delivery.
CHEP Pallet Management
Ensure the Factory has an adequate stockpile for production.
Ensure all transactions are timeously captured on CHEP portfolio.
Arrange collection of PCN customers to ensure outstanding pallets are less than the target.
Assist with the collection of pallets from out of region customers.
POD Management
Ensure all outstanding PODs are managed with all service providers.
Strategic
Share with the Service providers a 3‑month rolling forecast to ensure adequate capacity.
Budget and Forecast
Assist with budgeting and forecasting models and cost.
Service Day Assignments
Ensure that all customers have nominated delivery days and have a default route to the market (master data).
Constantly re‑optimise customer delivery frequency.
Ensure minimum order quantities with sales.
Knowledge
Maintaining excellent customer service levels under pressure/ resilience.
Logistics/Supply Chain background.
Technical Skills
Ability to analyze information and identify key trends and conclusions.
Understands month‑end/quarter‑end responsibilities and communicate in advance.
Ability to understand risks associated with area of responsibility e.g. critical suppliers, specific product shipping and stacking requirements, quality issues, safety stock levels, lead times, customer critical replenishment.
Ability to implement standard solutions to problems as well as customized solutions, where required.

Qualifications and experience requirements
Completed/studying towards a Hon. Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain.
Min of 5 years Transport planning experience within an FMCG environment.
Excellent computer skills, specifically Excel and good working knowledge in an ERP system preferably MFGPro.
Analyzing data using basic statistical techniques, maintaining databases, gathering data from primary and secondary sources, identifying, analyzing and interpreting trends from the data.
Working experience in transport supplier management.
Strong adherence to procedures and be able to work within a set of rules as determined for the primary distribution requirement.
