Test Baker, Durban

We are searching for a skilled, creative Baker who strives to provide excellent baked items and service in an efficient, professional manner.

Must be able to design, execute, and improve recipes, perform quality checks on ingredients and finished products, use icing, glazes, fillings, and decorations to enhance item presentation, and process orders from customers. You will also greet customers, answer questions, clean workstations and equipment, and perform other duties to ensure that customer needs are satisfied and the bakery is well-stocked and operating smoothly.
Must be efficient and friendly with a focus on food quality and customer satisfaction.
Must be organized, decisive, attentive, and possess a strong understanding of baking techniques.

Key Competencies

• An additional tertiary qualification relevant to research and development of cakes/desserts/baked products.
• Experience with quality management, microbiology and legislative requirements.
• Laboratory experience.
• Experience in supplier auditing and related fields.
• Proficient in MS Project.
• A recoganised  training skills course completed.
• Having worked in related fields to the food FMCG manufacturing environment, e.g. marketing, presentation and promotion of existing and new products.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Designing and improving recipes.
• Must have passion for baking; breads, confectioneries.
• Must have experience in the bread industry; retailers.
• Good capacity to adapt and work in lab conditions as well as at home some bakeries -
• Must be able to travel when needed and write report to management -
• Must be able to work on his/her own and do product development at the lab
• Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.
• Decorating and displaying finished products.
• Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls
• Taking client information and ensuring that deliveries are fulfilled accurately and on time
