ABOUT THIS ROLE

Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience and exposure to property or real estate environments? A well-established property-focused business in Durban is looking to appoint a Property Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and property portfolio accounting while contributing toward strategic financial decision‑making processes.The successful candidate will manage the financial operations and reporting for a dedicated property portfolio while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficient financial administration across multiple entities. WHAT YOU WILL DO

Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements for property portfolios Compile monthly management packs including income statements, balance sheets, and variance analysis Assist with year-end processes, audit preparation, and supporting documentation Maintain and monitor financial records for subsidiary entitiesPerform reconciliations for general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and property-related accounts Process accruals, depreciation, journals, adjustments, and month-end reporting Monitor property-level cash flow and ensure accurate financial reporting Process invoices, receipts, tenant returns, and financial adjustmentsManage debtors, creditors, and tenant collections processes Assist with annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with accounting and tax requirements Identify and resolve financial discrepancies and reporting issues proactively WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Completed SAIPA/SAICA articles or actively working toward a professional designation preferred Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience, ideally within property or real estate environments Strong understanding of IFRS for SMEs and South Africantax legislationPrevious experience working on management accounts and financial reporting Experience with accounting systems such as MDA, MRI, Sage ACCPAC, Caseware or similar Advanced MS Excel skills Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlinesStrong communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently High levels of integrity and confidentiality We’d love to hear from you
