SHERQ Officer

My client in the mining industry in the Northern Cape has a vacancy for a SHERQ Officer. The ideal incumbent will be required to provide safety services towards minimising and preventing accidents, manage non-conformance, and apply herself in a professional manner in all areas relating to safety, health, environment, risk and quality standards including:

• Inspections
• Investigations
• Assessments
• Analysis and Reporting
• Compliance

The ideal safety officer should have experience and skills pertaining to:

• Legislation
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Integrative ISO systems
  • Competence A Certificate
  • NOHSA
  • Accident investigation
• Report writing and data reporting
• SHERQ
• Systems

• Functional
  • Mining and Engineering business processes
  • Mine Health and System Act
  • Explosive Act (other legal requirements)
  • ISO 9000 (System, Audit)
  • ISO 45001 (System, Audit) (Legal Certificate)
  • Integration between systems
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment skills
  • National Water Act (other legal requirements)
  • Understanding of IWULA Waste management, Environmental monitoring and Rail systems
  • Understanding of SABS and SANS standards and the application thereof

  • All Discipline / departmental specific systems and software

Minimum requirements include:

• Grade 12
• Competent A Certificate Surface Mining
• National Diploma (NQF 6) in Safety Management / Risk Management
• Blasting Certificate / Rock Breaking MQA equivalent qualification
• Artisan Trade Test (Red Seal)
• Experience: 7 years operational experience in a mining environment
• Experience: 2 years risk assessment experience in a mining environment
