Network Support Engineer, Johannesburg

An innovative tech company based in centurion is looking for a Network Support Engineer who will meet and exceed customer service excellence and ensure stable operation of the core network, this role will enhance your routing and switching skills, as well as understanding the monitoring tools like SNMP and NetFlow crucial.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and practice best NPIS/IP configurations
• Testing and troubleshooting of all telecommunications circuit
• Assist in designing and implementing of L2 VLANS and bridge domains for clients
• Audit all connections to ensure accurate inventory and invoicing
• Liase with Business operations, logistics and network engineering team to streamline work of various stakeholders
• Manage network security systems and firewall configurations
• Meet with service providers to resolve all issues experienced on Access circuit and on Core National Long-distance links
• Report trends on core backbone links for SLA uptime and future capacities for planning
• Identify trends and proactively recommend hardware and fibre augments,
• Support for new site builds, moves, and expansions, plan large scale circuit migrations with data centre providers, vendors, and partners,
• Ensure reliable and functional connectivity per company standards
• Monitor traffic analysis using relevant systems and address future expansion requirements.
• Identifying issues and provide solutions to reduce potential risks

Requirements/Experience

• 3+ years' experience working within telecommunications space
• Diploma/Degree or higher certificate in Information Technology (equivalent qualification)
• Cisco certification CCNP (R&S or SP)
• Juniper certification
• Understand Network topology, newtwrok design, application layer and routing protocols
• Knowledge of BGP and OSPF
• Knowledge of Company systems,processes and policies
• Knowledge on MPLS & VRF essential
• Advanced knowledge of SIP & VOIP protocols and topologies
