Financial Controller, Johannesburg

A dynamic South African manufacturing and packaging group is seeking a Financial Controller / Senior Bookkeeper to take full ownership of the finance function and act as 2IC to the Head of Finance. The group serves the food, FMCG, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors, delivering cutting-edge solutions in flexible packaging, digital printing, and packaging machinery.This is a unique opportunity to oversee the group’s financial management, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and robust controls, while supporting operational and strategic decision-making. The role also offers mentorship in driving financial strategy, strengthening controls, and making a measurable impact on a business known for innovation and operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:

Full bookkeeping Preparation of monthly management accounts Overseeing the Debtors and Creditors functions Cashbook processing and bank reconciliations Monthly VAT reconciliation and submission Payroll processing and statutory returns General ledger reconciliations Inventory and cost control supportAssisting with external audit and financial reporting Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures Minimum Requirements:

Degree in Business/Financial Accounting (essential) Minimum 10+ years’ bookkeeping experience Proven experience in a manufacturing and/or packaging environment (preferred) Strong understanding of inventory management and cost accounting Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 Experience with manufacturing accounting systems (preferred)Personal Attributes:
