Intermediate Accountant / Bookkeeper, Johannesburg

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role involves managing the full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance, while supporting the Fractional CFO team in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to clients.
This is not a traditional corporate role. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment and is excited to contribute to a growing, entrepreneurial business.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance Process and reconcile all financial transactions Maintain the general ledger Oversee accounts payable and receivable Perform bank reconciliations Support VAT and statutory compliance Prepare monthly management accounts up to Trial Balance Assist the CFO team with client reporting and financial analysis Liaise with both local and US-based clients Provide ad hoc support across the team, including general administrative tasks when required

Requirements

Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred) Minimum of 5 years’ relevant bookkeeping/accounting experience Strong proficiency in accounting software (Xero experience ideal) Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to engage confidently and professionally with clients Willingness to occasionally attend meetings or calls at around 18:00 SAST to accommodate US clients
