Senior Manager– Merchant Services and Acquiring Solutions

Job Description Visa's Merchant Sales and Solution Team is seeking a Senior Manager– Merchant Services and Acquiring to drive in‑market acceptance efforts of a new mobile payment solution in Angola and Mozambique. The role is accountable for growth, development of meaningful and profitable merchant relations, and executing strategies that increase Visa MSV, market share, and data processing revenues.

Key Results Areas

Develop and execute the merchant acceptance, merchant relations and partner strategy for the region to increase Visa MSV, market share, data processing revenues and create acquirer, merchant and consumer preference for Visa.

Partner with the Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring and the Group Country Manager/Country Managers to execute on the Nano Merchant Acceptance Strategy which will transform the landscape over a 3‑year horizon.

Drive acceptance of Visa payment solutions in Angola and Mozambique, focusing on various business segments and key top‑tier merchants.

Secure and close leading deals with FinTechs across the region to drive non‑traditional transformation of the payments landscape.

Lead negotiation of large strategic partnerships with key clients and partners to meet strategic imperatives.

Develop strong market relationships with FinTechs and merchants to protect and grow Visa business and brand.

Conduct quarterly business reviews with key FinTechs and merchants to ensure Visa relationships add value.

Support the Director in executing on fintech issuance, merchant acceptance, merchant relations and partner strategy for Angola and Mozambique.

Play a hands‑on role in deployment and go‑to‑market of a new mobile‑based technology solution.

Develop new initiatives/solutions, implement marketing/usage initiatives targeting traditional and new merchant segments, both in physical and virtual worlds, focusing on mobile acceptance solutions.

Establish and foster relationships with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.

Understand client needs, deployment requirements, and develop models of engagement that are replicable across similar organizations.

Support local client sales and digital teams with sales and enablement efforts.

Maintain knowledge of technologies, products, services, and best practices across Visa Inc.

Leverage local market and regulatory knowledge in acceptance, merchant acquiring, interchange management, and consulting.

Utilize established networks at decision‑making levels with a strong business‑to‑business sales track record.

Qualifications

8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years with an advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, JD, MD), or 2+ years with a PhD.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership in the payments industry.

Working knowledge of payments network and processing services.

Working knowledge of mobile technology.

Detailed knowledge of Visa’s acceptance and related products and services.

Experience with project management tools and applications.

Microsoft Office tools proficiency.

Experience with Visa systems preferred.

Strong sales and relationship‑management skills.

Broad industry exposure.

General finance and accounting knowledge.

Strong influencing and negotiation skills.

Project management experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Track record of driving growth and launching new products.

Executive presence.

Global mindset and ability to work cross‑culturally.

Exposure to emerging payment solutions (mobile wallets, mobile money ecosystems, agent banking, mobile money transfers).

Location Hybrid position; at least 3 days in office. Office days confirmed by Hiring Manager.
