The Role This position entails the accountability for client project management and is common to be the point of contact from the Company to the Client representative. This position provides project management guidance to Clients and is responsible for providing technical project planning, management and oversight for key initiatives and implementation of projects, ensuring that these projects are completed on-time, within scope and budget while applying all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) that enables the business to retain its ISO 9001 accreditation.

This position reports to the Director: Programme Management and PMO.

This position will be based in Johannesburg at our Head Office, with the willingness to travel when required to provide support or assist with projects. Cape Town based candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage various buildings projects.

Lead a team of Henry Fagan project managers on built environment projects.

Manage and control all aspects of projects from initiation to project close out.

Oversee project production efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.

Development of client brief and project scope of works.

Weekly or as required progress reviews– planned versus actual.

Implement remedial action plans to recover project time delays.

Undertake reviews of extension of time delays and make recommendations to the client.

Regular site visits to ascertain site progress, build quality, construction related concerns, interface coordination issues etc.

Provide value engineering services to bring project costs to within budget.

Manage projects costs to provide accurate reporting to client in conjunction with QS.

Preparation of project plans, conducting project health checks and overseeing the implementation of recovery plans where necessary.

Assisting the Business Development team and the relevant Executive in identifying opportunities for tendering, preparation of requests for proposals and full tender proposals, as well as assisting with creating of part content of submission of tenders.

Generate relevant reports for projects as required by the business.

Source professional partners with specialist skills for Consortiums or Joint Ventures, as well as assess and recommend specialists for tendering purposes.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree or Postgraduate Qualification in the Built-Environment (Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying).

10-15 years construction project management experience / 5 years’ experience in any built-environment discipline in a senior role.

Extensive experience in management of project teams.

Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for support and projects.

Registered as a Pr. CPM with SACPCMP (preferred).

Advantageous

Proficiency in MS Project and exposure to Deltek Vantage Point system.

Registered as a Pr. Eng with ECSA.
