HR Manager

to join the pre-opening team of an upcoming luxury 5-star hotel in Zambia.

This is not a conventional HR administration role. We are looking for a hands‑on hospitality HR leader with proven experience in hotel pre‑openings, workforce structuring, labor relations, union engagement, and building high‑performance service cultures within luxury hospitality environments.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing the hotel’s people strategy from the ground up while ensuring compliance, operational readiness, and strong employee relations across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the full HR function during the pre‑opening and operational phases

Develop and implement HR policies, SOPs, organizational structures, and onboarding frameworks

Manage recruitment and manpower planning for all hotel departments

Drive employee engagement, performance management, training, and talent development initiatives

Handle labor relations and union matters professionally and strategically

Act as the primary HR representative in all union negotiations and employee relation matters

Ensure compliance with Zambian labor laws and hospitality industry standards

Support department heads in workforce productivity, disciplinary procedures, and operational HR requirements

Build a strong service‑driven culture aligned with luxury hospitality standards

Requirements:

Minimum 10–15 years of progressive HR experience within the hospitality industry

Minimum 5 years of experience as an HR Manager in a 4‑star or 5‑star hotel environment

Proven experience in at least one hotel pre‑opening project is mandatory

Strong hands‑on experience managing unions and labor relations within hotel operations

Excellent understanding of hospitality HR operations, employee relations, and labor compliance

Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills

Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, high‑pressure pre‑opening environments

Experience working within Africa will be considered a strong advantage

What We Are Looking For: We are looking for a commercially aware HR professional who understands that hotel HR is deeply operational. The ideal candidate must be capable of balancing employee engagement, legal compliance, operational discipline, and luxury service culture simultaneously.
