Contractor Legal Advisor– Franchising&Compliance, Johannesburg

The Legal Advisor will be responsible for offering comprehensive legal guidance and support to all levels of management within KFC's company-operated and franchised markets in Sub-Sahara Africa. This role is integral to ensuring the company's compliance with legal requirements and managing contractual relationships. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and the Legal team, as well as various internal and external stakeholders, to navigate and resolve complex legal matters.

Responsibilities

Drafting and reviewing legal agreements (e.g. with suppliers and service providers)

Approving and monitoring competitions, promotions and trademarks

Providing advice on the franchise related documentation and laws and drafting communications thereon

Dealing with Franchisees and Franchisee related matters, including franchise related transactions

Providing legal training and managing brand protection

Providing legal counsel to key stakeholders in dispute resolution, general contract and commercial issues

Support CLO and Legal Advisors in variety of issues and project related tasks

Liaise with Chief Legal Officer (direct report), Legal Advisors and Legal Administrator, Senior leaders in the Business (prioritization, direction, guidance and policy), Internal and external legal support (technical advice), Other Departments / Colleagues (technical advice, co-operation), External and Internal Auditors (compliance), Franchisees (negotiation and enforcement), Suppliers (negotiation and contracting)

Provide legal advice to all levels of management in KFC for company operated and franchised markets in Sub-Sahara Africa.

Managing and resolving contractual disputes and litigation, as well as managing and preparing documentation relating to all aspects of franchising for KFC.

Organizational training (Compliance)

Application of legislation on day-to-day business

Undertake the negotiation, documentation and management of contractual relationships across the business

General legal support and advice

Qualifications

Tertiary degree qualification in Bachelor of Laws and an admitted attorney.

Specialized knowledge in corporate and company law. Experience in franchising and QSR preferable.

Commercially astute, solution orientated, able to think out the box when permitted.

Self-starter, sense of urgency, able to work without close supervision.

Excellent communication skills and ability to counsel and influence other departments, franchisees and suppliers

Must be able to work in a flexible and agile environment
