Farm and Property Supervisor

Our client is a producer and distributor of quality animal proteins, animal fats, oils, minerals and frozen meat by-products for application in pet food, livestock feed and aqua feed recipes. We currently have a vacancy for a Farmer and Property Supervisor to be based at our Rendering plant, Greylingstad, in Mpumalanga.

Reporting to: General Plant Manager

The overall purpose of the role

The supervisor will be responsible to manage and guide a small team on the farm as well as the operational aspects and farm property including the animals.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Manage property irrigation.

• Repair and maintenance of Fences

• Fire Brakes

• Repair and maintenance of farm machinery

• Provide animal feed when necessary.

• Ensure water troughs are filled.

• Mow and bale grass feed as required.

• Ensure the property is always well maintained, cutting the grass, hedges, and flower beds. Paving and parking areas.

• General property upkeeping and maintenance.

• Any other tasks relating to maintenance of the Outside property, farm, and general upkeep.

Minimum requirements

• Matric certificate or equivalent

• A qualification in Agricultural studies will be advantageous

• At least 3-5 experience working in the animal farm

• Must have at least two years of experience driving a tractor

• Must have at least two years of experience operating a JCB

• Sound knowledge of Farm Equipment Maintenance.

• Sound knowledge of irrigation processes and management

• Supervisory experience will be advantageous

• Must be able to follow instructions

• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety protocols in a typical environment

• Must be a good communicator (written and verbal)
