Description
IT System Administrator required in Somerset West. A renowned international Engineering company is looking for an IT System Administrator to join their team on a full‑time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area, Cape Town.

Position Requirements:

Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or a successfully completed apprenticeship as an IT specialist with two‑year advanced training

At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in IT system administration

Very good knowledge of network infrastructures based on TCP/IP and associated services LAN, WAN, WIFI, VLAN, ideally with CISCO

Experience with the administration of Microsoft products (Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, AD/Entra ID, SCCM/Intune/Endpoint Manager, Teams), including PowerShell

Experience with virtualized server infrastructures (e.g. VMware) and storage systems

Experience with Citrix infrastructures

Ideally Microsoft certifications with a focus on the M365 portfolio

Experience in the management of service providers

Pronounced analytical thinking and a structured, systematic and careful way of working

Good knowledge of English. German an advantage

Willingness to travel and to participate in flexible on‑call service

Key Responsibilities:

Administration and support of core services such as Microsoft 365, MS Azure, Teams, Active Directory / Entra ID, SCCM / Intune / Endpoint Manager, Microsoft Servers

Support of the physical and logical network environment (WAN, LAN, WIFI, SD‑WAN, SD‑ACCESS, IP and VLAN) at all locations

Support of the existing international data centres and their network and server infrastructure

Administration of storage systems and virtualised infrastructures

Support of Citrix infrastructures

Monitoring and performance optimisation of all responsible systems and services

2nd level support and processing/handling of incidents, malfunctions, service requests, problems and changes

Worldwide support of 1st level support

Management of technology upgrades, system changes and IT projects in the area of responsibility

Continuous further development of the infrastructure with a strong focus on IT security and current market developments

Implementation of configuration changes and ensuring data backups of the relevant systems

Participation in global IT projects

Participation in on‑call duties and willingness to travel as required
