Process and Recovery Engineer FTC, Sandton

Key Responsibilities Process Optimisation & Efficiency Monitor and analyse plant processes including starch extraction, separation, and drying Identify inefficiencies and implement improvement initiatives Drive yield improvement and reduce material losses Recovery & Yield Management Maximise product recovery (starch and by-products) Reduce waste streams and improve raw material utilisation Investigate process losses and implement corrective actions. Process Monitoring & Control Analyse key process parameters such as temperature, flow, pH, and solids Ensure processes operate within defined specifications Work closely with control systems (e.g. SCADA/DCS) Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis Investigate process deviations, breakdowns, and quality issues Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventative actions Continuous Improvement Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) Participate in process upgrades and small capital projects Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with food safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental standards Support internal and external audits and drive corrective action. Collaboration & Technical Support Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams Provide technical support and guidance to plant operators Reporting & Data Analysis Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, throughput, and energy consumption Provide data-driven insights and reports to management
