Key Role Provide technical leadership and discipline authority for complex mechanical engineering scopes across energy and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on defining engineering strategy, leading mechanical design delivery, reviewing and approving critical deliverables, and ensuring safe, compliant and constructible solutions across multidisciplinary project teams.
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering scopes across all project phases (feasibility, concept, basic and detailed design) for complex and high‑risk projects
Define and approve mechanical design philosophies, basis of design inputs, and key technical approaches
Act as technical authority for mechanical deliverables, including calculations, specifications, datasheets, reports and design documentation
Lead design and review of mechanical systems such as rotating equipment, static equipment, piping systems, pressure vessels, HVAC, material handling and plant utilities (as applicable to project scope)
Provide expert input into equipment selection, materials, codes compliance, reliability and maintainability considerations
Guide and review P&IDs, layouts, mechanical datasheets, operating philosophies and commissioning strategies
Lead technical engagement with vendors and suppliers, including evaluation of complex technical submissions and participation in negotiations
Provide senior technical support during construction and commissioning, resolving complex site queries and technical challenges
Lead and participate in safety and risk studies (e.g. HAZID/HAZOP), ensuring mechanical designs meet safety and regulatory requirements
Mentor and develop intermediate and senior mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and quality oversight
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications and internal quality management systems
Health and Safety
Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
Contribute to the identification of SHEQ risks and drive processes to achieve Zero Harm

Qualifications
BEng / BSc / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
10–15+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering design and delivery within energy, industrial, infrastructure or process facilities
Proven experience leading discipline scopes and acting as mechanical technical authority on complex projects
ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer
