Internal Solar Sales Engineer, Midrand

Introduction One of Southern Africa’s most established commercial and industrial (C&I) solar energy providers, offering long‑term solar leasing and energy‑savings solutions to businesses across the region is looking for an Internal Sales Engineer.

The Sales Engineer will be a key commercial and technical enabler within the CRM team, primarily responsible for driving up-sell, cross-sell, and portfolio expansion opportunities across existing customers.

Duties&Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

Develop and drive up-sell, cross-sell, and optimisation opportunities within the existing customer base.

Identify and qualify additional sites within existing customer portfolios for new Solar PV and BESS deployments.

Support the Senior Client Relationship Manager in executing account growth and retention strategies

Review and interpret system performance, monitoring data, and operational metrics to identify commercial opportunities.

Develop technical designs and solution concepts for system upgrades, expansions, and additional sites

Ensure all technical and opportunity data is accurately captured within the CRM system.

Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Monitoring teams to validate assumptions and enable smooth handover to delivery.

Ensure all designs and recommendations comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to internal governance and approval frameworks.

Desired Experience&Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a sales engineering, pre-sales, or technical commercial role.

Strong experience with Solar PV systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Demonstrated ability to interpret site performance data and convert insights into commercial opportunities.
